HOUSTON (March 23, 2022) - Hannah Storm is no stranger to hosting world-renown, premier sporting events. For over 35 years, Storm has hosted it all, from Super Bowls to ESPYs, and everything in between. This makes Hannah Storm the perfect person to host the 2022 Houston Sports Awards.
The Houston Sports Awards is excited to announce legendary sports anchor Hannah Storm as this year's event MC. The Houston Sports Awards celebrates and recognizes Houston's top sports icons, and with Hannah’s ties to the city of Houston and this year’s honorees, what better way to celebrate than with a legendary sports icon hosting the event herself?
Storm is an award-winning journalist, producer, director, and trailblazer for women in the sports industry. She got her start after graduating from the University of Notre Dame in 1983, with degrees in communications and political science. From there, she started her journey in the sports industry.
Over the years, Storm has hosted a magnitude of sporting events, reported for 20/20, co-hosted the Early Show on CBS, and even wrote two books! In 2008, she joined ESPN as an anchor for Sports Center and the ESPYs. Shortly after, she became the host and executive producer of primetime interview specials called In Focus with Hannah Storm.
In 2018, Storm made history when she became the play-by-play voice of Amazon Prime Video's Thursday Night Football. Through this, she became part of the first female duo ever to broadcast a professional sports series in the US and provide commentary on NFL Games.
Storm has received numerous awards over the years for her work in sports broadcasting. However, most important to Storm is giving back. Storm founded the Hannah Storm Foundation in 2008 and helps raise funds for surgeries for children suffering from debilitating vascular birthmarks.
We look forward to celebrating with Hannah Storm and the rest of the Houston community on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at the fifth annual Houston Sports Awards.
